Great Dixter: What a lovely day to be invited to Great Dixter – and it was good to see so many of you as we wandered around the gardens last Sunday, thanks to Fergus and the team for letting us have a look around.

Coffee Morning: To the Village Hall this morning (Friday) for the monthly get together – 9.30-11.30am.

Badminton: Badminton clubs meet on Fridays in the Pretious Sports Hall – Juniors from 5.30pm (please call Pete Thomson 07815 842517 to check whether there are any spaces). Adults meet at 8.30pm on Fridays and 5.45pm on Mondays, and both adult clubs will be pleased to see new faces – just turn up.

Footpath Walk: The Footpath Group will set off for Beautiful Burwash and Batemans on Sunday. 1.30pm from the surgery car park to start the walk at 2pm from The Bear Public House in Burwash – 5 miles.

Bowls: How about trying Bowls? Northiam Bowls Club would welcome new members, so there will be an opportunity to have a go on Monday nights from 5.30pm. Just pop along to the green (behind the children’s play area in the Playing Fields).

Young People: The youngsters are catered for on Tuesdays in the Pretious Sports Hall, with Streetstyle Dance at 6pm and 7pm. If you have any budding dancers interested, please call Beth on 07890 764995.

The Youth Fun Bus will be available from 6.30pm on Wednesday in the Jenkins Room.

Coffee Stop: Meet up with familiar faces at Coffee Stop each Wednesday in the Church Centre between 10am and 12 noon. This week, Becky, our PCSO, will be there from 11am, so take the opportunity to meet her and have a chat about anything which might be of concern.

Lace Group: The Lace Group meets in the Jenkins Room on Wednesday at 2pm.

Seniors’ Club: All pensioners are welcome to the Club which meets each Thursday in Northiam Village Hall. There is always plenty to do and chat about, and whilst everyone arrives about 10.30, there is tea and coffee and the chance to take a look at the bring and buy stall, or the bring and win raffle. After extend chair exercises to improve mobility, members are served a two course home-cooked lunch followed by the week’s entertainment – this week, it’s the AGM, and a visit from the chiropodist! All for £7! If you would like to join, or know someone who would, please contact Jane (252973) or Linda (252283) who can also arrange for transport if necessary.

Chitiwiri: If you have any unwanted clothes, pairs of shoes, curtains, bed linen, bags, belts, perfume and would like to help raise money for the community of Chitiwiri, please put them in tied bin liners or call at Forge House for green bags. You can leave the bags outside the front door or garage if dry, or alternatively call Sally or Richard 01797 252108 to arrange a convenient time. The bags are being collected at 10am on Monday 11th May. Many, many thanks for your continued support.

Events in May: There’s a lot coming up in May to keep us occupied ! The Horticultural Society’s big Plant Sale will be on 9th, with the Bonfire Society’s Quiz in the evening (fully booked), Messy Church have a Big Day on the Playing Fields on 10th, St Michael’s Hospice have a Coffee Morning in the Village Hall on 16th, and this year’s Garden Safari will be on 31st. No doubt more to follow as the month develops.
