Coffee Morning: The Village Hall monthly coffee morning will be today (Friday) 9.30-11.30am.

Badminton: The badminton clubs meet on Fridays in the Pretious Sports Hall – Juniors from 5.30pm (please call Pete Thomson 07815 842517 to check whether there are any spaces). Adults meet at 8.30pm on Fridays and 5.45pm on Mondays, and both adult clubs will be pleased to see new faces – just turn up.

Jumble Sale: Northiam Village Hall Trust will be holding a Jumble Sale in Saturday (31st) at 2.30pm. Jumble can be left at the hall between 10-12 on the day, or call Marie (253264) to arrange to have it collected.

Dance Club: We also have a very friendly Dance Club meeting on Friday evenings in the Village Hall for sequence dancing. This is a very accessible way to keep fit to music, and meet people. Call Tony Pomfret - 253287 – if you are interested.

Shortmat Bowls: Another choice for keeping active in the winter months is Shortmat Bowls- in the Village Hall on Mondays and Wednesdays at 2pm.

Coffee Stop: Meet up with familiar faces at Coffee Stop each Wednesday in the Church Centre between 10am and 12 noon.

WI: Andy Dinsdale will be speaking on Flotsam and Jetsam at this month’s meeting in the Jenkins Room at 2pm on Wednesday. The competition is Found on a Beach.

Thursday Seniors: Northiam Seniors return on 5th February after their Christmas break. New members would be very welcome – call Jane (252973) or Linda (252283) to find out what goes on, and perhaps arrange a lift. Volunteers are also needed to help with this friendly weekly club, either at the club or driving members to and fro.

Horticultural Society: The first lecture of the year is on Friday 6th February at 2.30pm in the Village Hall. The subject is Wasps and Bumble Bees and will be given by Andrew Halstead who we have been assured is a very interesting speaker.

Pretious Sports Hall: The Sports Hall AGM will be held on Thursday 26th February at 7pm. Representatives from users and/or the local community are needed to stand for the committee – a vital role to ensure that the role of the community in building the Hall does not get forgotten in the future!

Library: Don’t forget our lovely library which is open each week on Thursday and Saturday afternoons 2-4pm with a wide variety of books for adults and children, also large print books and jigsaws on the ground floor of the snooker club, next to the village office.

Beavers: I hear from Brede that their Beaver colony has some vacancies. If you have any youngsters (6-8years) who would like to join the Scout movement, please call Catherine Southgate 0783 306 5028. They meet on Mondays between 5.15 and 6.15. But they have to promise to come back to join Northiam Cubs and Scouts!!
