Scam: Probably not the most cheerful way to start my column, but there is a nasty seasonal scam going round, which I hope we can all avoid: A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number). If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message, you will already have been billed £315 for the phone call. If you do receive a card with these details, them please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 020 7239 6655 or Crime Stoppers on 0800 555111. Please be aware that the premium rate number may change, but nevertheless please do not call any number stated on a card from PDS.

Badminton: The badminton clubs are running up to Christmas week, so, if you want to justify those mince pies, come and have a run around. The clubs meet at 8pm on Friday and 5.45pm on Monday.

Messy Church: Come and celebrate Christmas with the little ones in St Mary’s on Sunday at 4pm, when there will be the Christmas message, craft, food, singing etc.
