Coffee Morning: As yet another month comes to an end – can it really be almost November? – it’s time for the Village Hall Trust’s monthly Coffee Morning, from 9.30-11.30am today (Friday). Pop in to enjoy lovely things to eat and some good company.

Badminton: Badminton Clubs in the Pretious Sports Hall run on Fridays, with the Junior Club at 5.30pm and 6.30pm (Primary & Secondary ages), with the adult club following on at 8pm. The Monday club runs for an hour from 5.45pm. All very welcome – we have two courts so can accommodate a range of abilities.

Dancing: Dance Club meets in the Village Hall for Sequence Dancing from 7.30-10pm each Friday. It costs £2 including tea and biscuits, and is suitable for all ages. Call in to find out more.

WI: A busy week for the WI, starting with a watercolour experience with Keith Collins, a well known local artist. This will be on Monday 3rd in the Church Centre from 2-4pm. The AGM will be part of the usual meeting on 5th, when members will be able to vote for their committee for 2015. Mike Belton returns to to talk about the beach foray at Pett earlier in the summer, and, if time allows, they will also fit in a quiz!

On 12th November, there will be an outing to Canterbury to see the interactive exhibition “Canterbury Tales”, with time for lunch a little shopping.

Flu: It’s that time of year again! The surgery is offering flu vaccinations to the over-65s and anyone with a chronic medical condition, starting in November. Private vaccinations are available for all age groups from local pharmacies including Day Lewis in Battle, and Jempsons in Peasmarsh. Dr Waters’ patients can call in to the surgery between 2-3.30pm on Tuesday 4th November, Dr James’ patients on 11th, and Dr Parnell’s on 13th. There will be a final catch up session for any patient on Friday 21st November.

Coffee Stop: All welcome at Coffee Stop between 10am and midday each Wednesday for coffee and a chat in the Church Centre.

Horticultural Society: Fergus Garrett will be giving the President’s Lecture on Friday 7th November at 7.30pm in the Village Hall. As yet, the topic is unknown, but we can be assured of an interesting, informative and entertaining evening. Free to members and just £2 to visitors.

Coffee Morning: On Saturday 8th November, there will be a pre-Christmas Coffee Morning and bric-a-brac sale in aid of St Michael’s Hospice in the Village Hall 10.30-noon. Please support this excellent cause, either by donating items for the raffle or stalls, or by attending on the day to buy home-made cakes, gifts, books etc. Please take donations to Park House or call 252871.

Quizzes: The NT will be holding their next Quiz on 15th November in Beckley Village Centre (Julie: 01424 882054), and the Bonfire Society are lined up for 29th November in Northiam Village Hall (Karen: 01797 253375).

Percussion Group: I have heard from Dan Mann who wants to start up a samba/batucada percussion group locally. If anyone is interested (we’ve all seen X-factor!) please contact 07759 267838. I had a quick look at Wikipedia, and this style uses a wide range of percussive instruments, so it sounds like fun!

Library: We are very fortunate to have a library in our village. If you haven’t found it yet, it is open on Thursdays and Saturdays from 2pm to 4pm on the ground floor of the snooker club next to the Parish Office. Run by willing volunteers, it stocks a wide variety of books, a section for children, large print books, and an extensive selection of jigsaws.
