Badminton: For the next two weeks, there will be Pay & Play sessions in the Pretious Sports Hall on Friday evenings, when Sheldon Chambers (a Badminton England level 2 coach) will be running sessions from 7pm. The cost is £2.50 a session. All very welcome.

Bowls: The Bowls Club is looking for new members, and anyone interested will be very welcome on Monday evenings after 5.30pm to have a go, or phone Trevor Monk (01797 252307). Bowls is suitable for all ages and sexes, and can be played competitively or socially. Northiam is a small friendly club, and offers a great way to meet new people and get some gentle exercise.

Football: Northiam 75 Football Club is currently looking for new players for the coming season. Anyone interested (must be over 16) please contact Rob Deal 07876 741199.

Budgerigar Show: The Budgerigar Society will be holding their Open Championship Show on Sunday 17th August in Northiam Village Hall. Last year there were 377 budgies on display! So worth a visit. The Show is open to the public from 2pm. There will be a Raffle and refreshments, and entry is free, although you may wish to make a donation to the Society. If you are a budgie person, you might like to join the Society. Pop along and have a word on Sunday, or call Brian Mepham 01424 429094.

Coffee Stop: Coffee Stop opens in the Church Centre every Wednesday from 10-12 for a chat. This week, Becky, our PCSO, will be there from 11am to give crime prevention advice and to discuss any issues or concerns residents may have.

Thursday Seniors: The Club has been invited to Peasmarsh Place for Afternoon Tea on Wednesday, and will enjoy a Beetle Drive at their meeting on Thursday. If anyone would like to go to the meetings, please call Ann 252343 or Jane 252973, who would like to hear from you! Transport can usually be arranged, and there is always a two course home-cooked meal as well as cheerful company, advice and help and entertainment after lunch.

Music: Northiam Chamber Orchestra is looking for new members! It meets on Thursday evenings in the Village Hall. Peter Fields (07792 3291450), the conductor, would be very pleased to hear from anyone interested.

Autumn Show: The Horticultural Society’s Autumn Show will be earlier this year – on Saturday 30th August. All the details are in the Show Schedule available through the village website, or call Tony Pomfret (253287).

Pink Piglet Day: Northiam Scout Group will be holding their popular Pink Piglet Day on Saturday 6th September at Scout HQ, Goddens Gill.

Craft Fair: also on 6th September, the Bonfire Society will be holding their next Craft Fair in the Village Hall. Stalls can be booked through the website: northiambonfiresociety.co.uk

Blue Cross Ffete: The Blue Cross will be holding their Annual Fete on Sunday 7th September, 10am-4pm, with Dog Show, Dog Agility, Young Artist Competition and all the fun of the fair.

Scout Leaders Wanted: the Cub Scouts are in need of a leader. If anyone is interested in taking on this incredibly fulfilling role, please give Jacky Broad (01797 253228) a call. We have one of the oldest Scout troops in the country, and it has given a fantastic start to a lot of our youngsters.
