With the new term in full swing, the badminton clubs restart this evening (Friday) with the junior club at 5.30pm (ages 8-11), and 6.30pm (ages 12-18). For details contact Pete Thompson 07815 842517. The adult club starts at 8pm and operates as a drop-in session, so new faces are very welcome, but if you would like to find out more, please call me on 01797 253375 – there is no joining fee, just £3 a session and players are mixed around using a playboard. Racquets and shuttlecocks are provided.

The Horticultural Society’s Autumn Show will be held in the Village Hall on Saturday 7th September. Exhibits have to be placed between 9am and 10.30am – just turn up at the hall and you will be shown what to do. If you haven’t got a Schedule of Classes please contact Joan Davis on 01797 253458, or download one from the village website. You don’t have to be a member to exhibit, and it’s delightfully unstuffy with people always ready to help.

On 14th September, there will be a Race Night in the Muddy Duck run by the Bonfire Society. Along with buying a Lottery ticket and smoking, I’ve never learned how to put on a bet, but this is easy peasy! Local businesses have sponsored races to the tune of £25, and horses are being sold in the Muddy Duck for £3. Bets on the night will be just 50p, and great fun will be had by all.

Also on 14th, The Village Hall Trust will be holding a Jumble Sale, so see if your cupboards could do with a clear-out! Jumble can be taken to the Hall during the morning, or phone Marie Edwards (01797 253264) to arrange collection.
