The Toy and Pedal Car Museum has reopened after the winter break, during which the team has prepared a new section housing almost 100 more pedal cars, some of which are very special, dating back to the Edwardian times. The new exhibits look very grand and imposing – the craftsmanship to make these lovely old cars is absolutely magnificent. As a special offer during March, you can get a £1 discount per person by presenting the voucher which can be downloaded from the website.

Today (Friday), the Horticultural Society meets at 2.30 pm in the Village Hall, when Susan Scrivens talks about The Land of the Pharaohs.  The new time seems to be very popular, and everyone is very welcome to attend – non-members £2 (although you may like to join and be able to enjoy all the interesting lectures and Shows!). Susan returns after her very popular lecture last year.  Tea & biscuits will be served.

Dance Club meets in the Village Hall at 7.30pm for sequence dancing, and badminton clubs meet in the Pretious Sports Hall at 5.30pm (Primary School-age), 6.30pm (Secondary school-age) and 8pm (adult).

On Saturday, we hold our own Northiam’s Got Talent competition, when young people are invited to come along to the Village Hall to audition for the chance to play at the Jubilee Celebrations. Auditions will be held between 2-5pm, with equipment (and help) provided. Please call or text 07903 300 353 if you are under 25 and would like to take part.

Bodiam Castle is holding a Hawking Experience on Sunday, 11am - 3pm. An opportunity to learn about and fly these fascination birds of prey. Cost £40, with lunch.

Willing Fingers will be having an open day on Monday 5th March in the Church Centre. It will be open between 10.00 am and 12 noon and 1.30 pm and 3.30 pm. Entry is free. There will be refreshments, a cake stall, and Tombola. The group will be displaying some work they have been doing, and during the day they will be making “little dresses for Africa”. This is a Christian charity providing dresses for girls, often orphans and refuges, who have nothing. Please pop in and take a look.

The Footpath Group will be holding their AGM on Tuesday evening in the Village Hall, starting at 7.30pm. With refreshments and a Grand Raffle, the evening should be as much social as business, and would be a good time to introduce yourself to the Group if you have thought about joining, but not got round to it yet!

Coffee Stop will be open in the Church Centre on Wednesday morning between 10am and 12 noon.

Northiam WI meets on Wednesday at 1.30pm in the Jenkins Room when the guest speaker will be a member: Geraldine, with Aunty Ada’s Memories. The competition is an item from yesteryear, and there will be the usual flower of the month competition, and the book table.

Northiam Seniors will hear from Peter Hayman this week, and the Citizens Advice Bureau will be on hand between 10am and 12 noon for friendly advice.

The Parish Council meets in the Jenkins Room at 7pm on Thursday – observers are always welcome.

Jess, from Hairtique, will be supporting Help the Heroes with a charity skydive on Sunday 18th March. If you would like to sponsor Jess there will be forms in Hairtique, Will’s Bakery and Northiam DIY.

Volunteers and prizes are being sought for the village Jubilee Celebrations, which we hope will be a fantastic weekend for everyone. If you would like to help make this a memorable time, please give your name to Sue Keighley, Parish Clerk. Jobs will be shared out nearer the time, but we will need First-Aiders, cooks, bakers, equipment shifters, vegetable growers etc etc, as well as some good prizes for the Grand Raffle. Up to date information will be on show at the Annual Village Meeting in April, or pop into the Parish Office.
