Northiam Village Voice

n Last Tuesday, we had another well-attended meeting to plan Northiam’s celebrations for the Diamond Jubilee.

Over the holiday weekend, we hope the whole village will enjoy celebrating together, and a range of activities are being planned to appeal to all age groups. Celebrations will start on the Friday, with the Primary School’s Sports Day, followed on the Saturday by the Horticultural Society’s Summer Show to be held in a marquee on the Playing Fields, with family focussed games alongside.

n On Saturday evening, there will be a Dance in the Village Hall with live music spanning the decades, so whatever your dancing style, it will be in fashion!

n On Sunday, we join in the nationwide arrangements, with a church service in the marquee, followed by the Big Lunch, and we will round off our celebration with a torchlight procession to the Beacon on Monday evening.

n We hope that everyone will want to be a part of our celebrations, so look out for more information in leaflets, on the noticeboards and the Parish Magazine. If anyone would like to volunteer to help with any event, or is able to sell raffle tickets for the Grand Draw, or could promise a row of lettuces, or could bake a cake - you get the idea, all your talents can be used! – please drop into the Parish Office sometime and leave your details, or call 253990 and leave Sue Keighley a message on the clerk’s answerphone.

n In the meantime, young people are wanted to take part in Northiam’s Got Talent on March 3rd, when budding performers are invited to audition for the chance to play at the Jubilee Celebrations.

n Prizes for the Grand Raffle would also be gratefully received, so please call in any favours!
