NOSTALGIA: Eastbourne DGH staff pictures from the 1970s
We continue our look back at the history of the National Health Service in Eastbourne with some great photos showing the construction of the District General Hospital.
The hospital was built in two phases. The first opened to patients in 1976 and was then officially opened in 1977 by Her Royal Highness the Princess Alexandra.
In 1989 phase two of the hospital opened which led to the closure of St Mary’s Hospital in Old Town.
