The home’s general manager, Joanna March, thanked the nurses for their commitment and hard work before presenting them with a travel mug and a Nurses’ Day card.

Nurses’ Day, celebrated on May 12, is a chance to recognise and reward the important work and dedication of nurses everywhere, which is often above and beyond the call of duty.

Recently nurse manager Liz Higson and senior carer Peter Crabb were especially invited to the National Nursing Awards at London’s Hilton Hotel.

An annual awards ceremony that celebrates and recognises the wonderful work all nurses do. Peter is training to be a nurse after working at Westlake House for over 10 years and his training is being mentored through Westlake House and through Barchester Healthcare.

He also recently featured in the Nursing Times in which he described the challenge of studying to become a nurse whilst also working as a carer in the home and being a husband and father.

Joanna March, General Manager at the home, said: “At Westlake House our nurses are hard-working, dedicated and passionate about caring for older people.

“We are also committed to helping develop newly qualified nurses with their leadership and clinical skills, which can often be invaluable in a career with increasing responsibilities and workload.”
