The Crawley Observer was officially thanked today for supporting the Crawley Community and Voluntary Service.

Shelley Jones, presenting the award, said the newspaper’s weekly volunteering opportunity column had been a great help to the service.

“There’s not been a week gone by when I haven’t had phonecalls because of it,” she said.

“It’s been a quick and easy way for us to meet a huge range of people - it’s been a resounding success and we’re so grateful for the opportunity of doing it.”

Johnston Press South MD Karl Dimmock accepted the award on behalf of the paper.
