His extraordinary career in public service started soon after leaving Lewes Priory Grammar School in 1952, when he joined the local authority at Lewes.

During this time he managed many local projects, amongst them helping to ensure delivery of Clair Hall and the Dolphin Centre.

He finally joined Worth Parish Council in 1985, where he worked until his admittance to hospital in March this year.

Keith will perhaps be best known for his community involvement in the town. A keen footballer and avid supporter of Brighton and Hove Albion he played and helped run several local clubs.

His ability to lead and encourage youngsters was infectious and he took an increasingly active role in the Scout movement, eventually becoming Group Scout Leader of the 3rd Haywards Heath.

Something of a closet Scotsman, he took his love of music to new levels, helping to form the Mid Sussex Pipe Band, eventually amalgamating with The Pride of Sussex Pipe Band. Both the Scout and Pipe Bands quickly realised their potential and national and international recognition swiftly followed.

His time as clerk to Worth Parish Council was particularly rewarding, quite simply he loved his job, forged lasting friendships and thoroughly enjoyed meeting and helping people.Keith was born in Uckfield in 1934 and is survived by his wife, Sheila, his children, Garry, Marc and David and his grandchildren, Alex, Chris, Charlotte and Phoebe.
