Off Centre as members enjoy choir

The Off Centre Choir entertained members of the Rife Social Club at the June meeting.

This was not their first visit to the club, which shows just how good they are.

Most of the singing is unaccompanied, however a pianist does play a role accompanying a flautist, a solo euphonium player and both solo and duet singers, and a piano duet.

One of the alto singers read an amusing poem about being an alto singer in a choir.

The programme ranged from light opera to spirituals, traditional Irish and Israeli numbers, folk blues, jazz, Irving Berlin, Flanders and Swann, marches and ended with an Irish blessing.

There were toe-tapping numbers, sentimental ones and items which required audience participation including their laughter.

In fact, there was something for everyone. No doubt members will be hoping for a return visit in the not-too-far-distant future.

It is now time for the summer break.
