Off-licences in Bognor Regis passed the test

THREE off-licences passed a test not to sell alcohol to underage youngsters.

Officers from West Sussex neighbourhood licensing team tested 11 pubs and off-licences during the operation on January 15.

Three of those premises that refused to serve booze to youngsters were in the Bognor area. Grande Wines in Middleton Road, Sibels Mini Market in Hawthorn Road and One Stop in Durston Drive all challenged the young volunteers working for the police and refused to serve them.

Eight other premises in Littlehampton and Wothing all passed the test, but three did not.

Staff at Star Convenience Store and News Corner, both in Chapel Road, Worthing, and at Mini Market in Wick Parade, Littlehampton, did sell alcohol to the children.

The workers involved at Star Convenience Store and at Mini Market were given £90 fixed penalty notices.

Officers are investigating what action should be taken against the member of staff at News Corner.
