Offering brings Christmascheer to needy residents

Family run business, Jempson’s, through its charity The Jempson Foundation, generously donated the bags of groceries to the Rye Partnership, who then offered them to AmicusHorizon.

The housing association distributed them on the Wednesday before Christmas to two of its sheltered schemes for older people in Rye, and the Tilling Green Estate.

The food parcels contained many grocery items, including soup, biscuits, fruit squash, long life milk, and chocolates.

Vanessa Biddiss, Head of Area for East Sussex at AmicusHorizon, said: “It was great being able to deliver an early Christmas treat to residents in our sheltered schemes and the Tilling Green Estate.

“We’re extremely grateful to The Jempson Foundation and the Rye Partnership and thank them for their generosity. This shows the strength of community partnership work within the Rye area and the positive impact it can have.”

Stephen Jempson, co-owner of Jempson’s, said: “We have gifted in the region of 400 grocery bags to members of our community who have been affected by the economic downturn. We felt it was particularly important to try and help ease some of the hardships some people were experiencing in the lead up to Christmas.

The Jempson Foundation’s objective is to support the community in which we are proud to serve and it has given us immense pleasure to have been able to make these contributions.”
