Ofsted joy for St Mary's Primary School in Bognor

Inspectors offered praise for consistently good teaching, learning relevant, motivating and interesting and outstanding care and support for pupils' development.

The Glamis Street school staged St George's Day activities to mark their good news, with everyone dressing up in red and white for a street party lunch.

Celebrations also included a singing assembly to mark the school achieving the National Sing Up Silver Award.

Within the report Ofsted highlighted the pupils' good behaviour, their desire to succeed, their excellent understanding of keeping safe and leading a healthy lifestyle, plus their outstanding spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding.

Headteacher Katharine Amaladoss said: "I am thrilled to receive such a positive report.

"I am very proud of the way in which governors, staff, parents and pupils have worked together to make St Mary's a very special place.

"The children really enjoy school, care about each other and the wider community, and want to succeed."

St Mary's has also received Silver Singing School status after being awarded the national Sing Up Silver Award for its commitment to music.

The award will be presented by Sing Up's south-east assessor Emily Barden, with children and staff celebrating in song.

She said: "There is a real sense of celebration and performance in the singing at St Mary's, with lots of opportunities both in and out of school for children to get involved in singing activities.

"The teachers share this enthusiasm for performance and are certainly not shy about singing and performing '“ this is great to see and provides real positive role models for the children."
