Oil spill from overturned lorry closes A259 near Rye

The A259 near Rye was closed after a lorry overturned and spilled oil on the road this morning (Wednesday, May 11).

The road was closed in both directions from the Camber Road junction to the A2070 after the incident in Brookland, which caused congestion.

Kent Police was called at 6.20am to the scene but there was no indication of injury.

Highways cleared the road.
