Olympic gymnast visits school

AN OLYMPIC gymnast joined pupils for a sponsored sports afternoon.

Ben Brown, a member of the British Olympic Squad who will be competing at the Bejiing Olympics in 2008, took time off to visit Pells School, Lewes.

Throughout the afternoon the children took part in sponsored sports activities. Money raised will be split between buying sports equipment for the school and supporting young athletes.

The afternoon culminated in a display of gymnastics by Ben, featuring back-flips, somersaults, handstands and diving forward rolls.

Stephen Dennis, headteacher, said: 'Ben showed the children that gymnastics is a sport for both boys and girls and gave them all something to aim for. We will remember Ben's visit for a long time and wish him every success in the Olympics.'
