One accident follows another on A27

A CAR hitting the central reservation, followed by an accident in the queue, are causing tailbacks on the A27 this morning.

Sussex Police are warning there is congestion at the Southwick Tunnel, going as far back as the Brighton turn.

“At 6.40am westbound on the A27 near to the Southwick tunnel, a car collided with the central reservation,” the police report.

“The driver is uninjured but the lane is currently blocked while the vehicle is recovered.”

Drivers reported there was a second accident in the queue, so just as the first accident cleared, further hold-ups have been caused.

Police said at 7.15am, also westbound, near the Portslade junction on the A27, two cars collided.

“The road is not blocked there and neither driver were injured, however there is a lot of queuing traffic in the area,” a spokesman said.
