The tandoori restaurant has been warned it could face a financial penalty.

Bonani was served a notice warning that a financial penalty of up to £20,000 will be imposed unless proof is provided that legally required right to work checks were carried out, such as seeing a passport or a Home Office document.

Assistant director Richard Lederle, from Home Office Immigration Enforcement, said: “People who are living and working in the UK illegally will be arrested and removed from the country, and we will take the strongest possible action against employers who try to cheat the system.

“Illegal working is not a victimless crime.
