One hospitalised after car crashes near Rye

One person was hospitalised after three car crashes within an hour and a half on Monday morning (February 15).

Five cars were involved in three seperate incidents on the A28 and Rye Road, with police believing the cause was black ice.

The patient was taken to the Conquest Hospital with a minor head injury after their car hit a tree north of Brede Bridge on the A28 at around 6.15am.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service response car was first on the scene before another car and an ambulance were sent as well as police.

A car overturned and another hit a tree after sliding trying to avoid the first car on Northiam Road, half a mile north of Broad Oak fire station, at around 7.30am.

Then three cars were involved in a crash, with one hitting a hedge, on Rye Road at about 7.45am.

Two people sustained minor injuries and the road was closed until 10.35am.

Two response cars and an ambulance attended the scene.
