One week left to enter Beautiful Battle's Scarecrow Festival

The theme of this year's festival is Market Day and anyone wanting to take part should fill in the entry form below and return it by April 30.

The rules of the festival state:

* Scarecrows should be constructed in materials resistant to all weather and able to withstand three weeks outside.

* Scarecrows should be no more than 6ft in height.

* Consideration will be given to use of recycled materials, and imagination, so there need be no great cost involved.

* Scarecrows should be fully dressed with name attached and in place by Sunday July 4. Participants will be informed where to deliver them.

* Businesses in the High Street are invited to display their scarecrows in their shop windows.

* Other scarecrows will be placed in a garden or public space in the centre of Battle, to be viewed easily by other residents and visitors to Battle, and securely attached to a T-shaped post (provided).

Beautiful Battle will issue a leaflet detailing where to find the scarecrows.

It will include a voting form to nominate your favourite scarecrow.

Prizes for the best entries will be announced and awarded at the Battle In Bloom awards evening in late July.

Leaflets will be available from the Tourist Information Centre, Battle Library, The Almonry and Museum and participating businesses.
