The idea behind the day is to encourage local people to visit care homes in their community and to work together to develop better relationships.

The special event at Lindsay Hall Nursing Home, 128 Dorset Road, will be held from 12.30pm and Home Manager Natalie Kent says it is set to be a fantastic occasion with a local singer and a fresh lemonade stall. “It’s been great fun for our residents planning this exciting event, and they are looking forward to welcoming the local community to our BBQ,” she said.

“We’re sure it will be a wonderful day to remember.”

Care Home Open Day is a UK wide initiative inviting care homes to open their doors to their local communities.

Thousands of care homes across the UK take part each year, welcoming the public and arranging events and activities that help to create lasting links between care home residents and their local communities. Showing people what excellent care homes are really about and how they can be at the centre of local communities, developing relationships across the generations.
