Open day held at autism unit

BEXHILL High School's Autism Support Pod, affectionately known as 'The ASPie', is throwing open its doors on Thursday, July 21, from 10am to 3pm to show how it promotes and enhances the development of children with high-functioning autism and Aspergers.

The ASP caters for up to 22 young people aged 11 to 16 and has a set of rooms and specialist staff which enable autistic students to have access to mainstream education at the Gunters Lane school.

Philip Edkins, ASP manager, said: “Among those we have invited to our open day are our local MP Greg Barker; the Mayor of Bexhill, Councillor Stuart Wood; school governors, head teachers, special educational needs managers, caseworkers and parents.
