The centre is based in Bexhill at Unit 10 Wainwright Road on the Beeching Road Industrial Estate behind the Police Station.

Emma Dell, Retail Manager for the Sara Lee Trust, said: “It has easy access and free parking to save those wishing to donate struggling to find a parking space close to one of our shops and carrying bags and boxes along the street.

“Donors can simply pull up at the door and transfer everything from their car, with one of our volunteers at hand to help if needed.

“At the Donation Centre goods will be sorted by our volunteers and distributed to one of the Charity Shops where the items are resold to support the Trust’s work with local people who have cancer or other life threatening illnesses with support for their families and carers.

“Initially the donations centre will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am – 1pm, welcoming donations of saleable items including clothing and accessories, toys and games, DVDs & CDs, linen, electrical and household items and pictures and jewellery.

“Alternatively we can undertake house collections and clearances by appointment. Tel: 01424 272 358, text 07983 526970 or email [email protected].”

The Trust aims to improve the lives and well-being of people living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses in the Hastings and Rother area through the provision, free of charge, of creative and complementary therapies, psychological and counselling support, and therapeutic group activities.

Emma said: “If anyone is interested in volunteering at the Donation Centre or one of our Shops we are having a Volunteering Open Day at the Centre on Wednesday October 21 from 10am– 12pm. Please come along to have a cup of tea and find out more about how you may be able to help.”
