A safer community
ALTHOUGH Richard Ostler may have found the police ineffective in protecting his property from damage, Bognor police are to be commended for launching the national initiative Redeeming Our Communities (ROC) in our area, and inviting all who wish to help create a better and safer local community to a meeting to be held on Thursday, June 9, at the Baptist Church in Victoria Drive at 7.30pm.
The churches have a vital contribution to make and David Cameron is reported as saying church leaders would be absolutely right to claim he didn’t invent the idea of the Big Society, but that it was founded by Jesus Christ who called his disciples to love their neighbour in practical ways.
At the feast of Pentecost on Sunday, we celebrate the gift from God of the Holy Spirit to empower, inspire and guide us to build that good society which is his will for all his people, following example of the early church where, the Bible tells us. ‘no-one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had’.
