Amount of litter saddens me

With reference to the letter by Kevin Head in the Observer dated April 8, about the shocking state of our streets.

Now 82 years of age, I have been taking a plastic bag almost every day, for over 20 years, picking up cans and bottles on my many routes out and about.

One day alone last November I collected 29 bottles and cans in St Matthew’s Gardens, also leaves have been piled up in the gutter blocking drains for the past 18 months.

I am very sad at my age.
