The team at The Mewes Vets love to get out into our local community and meet other animal lovers. But I do sometimes feel that our canine companions get an unfair advantage.

We attend many dog shows throughout the year, but what about our feline friends, our hutch pals and the exotic pets? Well, it was this thinking that led us to inaugurate our first ever calendar competition, back in 2015 And it was such a success that we have been creating an animal-filled calendar every year and selling it in aid of a good cause ever since.

If your cat, guinea pig, gecko or tortoise prefers to stay at home, we can still celebrate them via their portrait in our calendar. There are just a few days left before the deadline for entering into our 2025 calendar, so get those images sorted now! We are looking for action shots, funny shots, group shots, or just plain cute shots. You can go artistic, or aim for a particular month, with a theme, such as christmassy, valentines or halloween. It’s entirely up to you, and whatever you think might catch the judge’s eye.

Our lovely judge this year will be Haywards Heath Mayor, Cllr Stephanie Inglesfield. You choose the very best portrait you have of your furry friend, and email it to us. There’s no fee to enter, and maybe your loved one will become the cover star of The Mewes Vets’ 2025 calendar. We will squeeze in as many portraits into the calendar as we possibly can, so please make sure that yours is well lit, with good sharp focus, or it will not print very well. There are major bragging rights for thirteen lucky winners, as well as prizes and certificates to be won.

We will award these and announce the winners at our pre-Christmas party on Saturday 30th November. The calendars will be sold for just £9 Each, with all takings going to Cats Protection. To enter, simply email your ONE best shot of your pet to [email protected] by midnight on this Sunday 13th October.
