Appalled and saddened by bash at the buses

I WAS appalled and saddened by Wendy Taylor's letter (Herald, March 18) concerning wheelchair access on buses.

Read Wendy Taylor's original letter here.

I was sorry to hear that she had had to "downsize" from two cars to one.

Most wheelchair users would be delighted to have access/ownership of just one car.

The fact that Wendy Taylor has not seen anyone in a wheelchair on the buses may reflect:-

a) The variable health problems experienced by wheelchair users.

b) The suitability of the routes to take them where they wish to go.

c) The fact that many are part of our workforce and were probably on earlier buses.

I have many friends who are wheelchair users and have seen the many obstacles they have to overcome every day.

I would suggest that Ms Taylor thinks more of others' situations before complaining of mere monetary costs. There are billions of pounds being wasted every day by government, big business, etc.
