Back to Church day

MANY churches like to advertise themselves as being at the heart of the community, and it was inspiring to read your report of the weekend of community activities centred round the parish church of St Mary's, Slindon, as an example for others to follow.

Going to church is as much a matter of belonging as of believing, by joining those who are helping to build a strong and flourishing local community.

Back to Church Sunday is being held nationwide on September 25, to encourage more to take part and contribute towards making this vision a reality in their parishes.

In the past 40 years the Church of England has seen the number of adult church-goers fall by half, but continuinng decline is not inevitable.

By sharing Slindon’s experience we can dare to believe a different future, that God wants his church to grown both in impact and influence nationally and in the transformation of local communities.
