Bring Artemis back!

It is, to my mind, a tragedy that Artemis has been taken from his wonderfully-commanding position on the top of the Trundle.

I could hardly believe the news, in the Observer last week, until I climbed the hill to see for myself the spot where he had so proudly stood, and where he should surely still be standing.

Those remarkable eyes, the ears that looked as if they would twitch at any moment, and that silhouette which could be seen from miles all around have, I am sure, left a lasting impression on hundreds, if not thousands, of people.

I would beg the Observer to launch immediately a campaign to bring Nic Fiddian-Green’s inspiring sculpture back, permanently, to where it belongs.
