An opportunity to see Chestnut Tree House for yourself

We focus a lot in East Sussex on the amazing care our Community Nurses offer to children in their own homes and it is true that this is the way most families here access our care on a regular basis.

But they also have access to the hospice itself, and many relish the opportunity of a short break – either to spend time together as a family away from home or to leave their child in safe hands for a few days so they can do something that may not be possible with a child with complex needs.

I could talk for hours about the House; the wonderful warm atmosphere, the amazing facilities and beautiful setting. But the only way to really understand it is to see it for yourself, something not many get the opportunity to do. This is why we are so excited that our Open Days are here again.

On Friday 2 and Saturday 3 October, Chestnut Tree House will be throwing open its doors and inviting people from across the county to come and see the hospice for themselves.

The Open Days take place every two years and are a fantastic opportunity for us to show the community what their generosity has achieved and to say thank you for their support.

As well as tours of the House, visitors can experience the sights, sounds and scents of our fabulous wheelchair-accessible Woodland Walk. There will be a chance to meet the Care Team who all do such a wonderful job looking after the children and families.

The feedback we’ve had from previous Open Days includes how nice it was for people to see how their donations are spent, how the House is so homely and welcoming and not all like the clinical place they imagined, and, finally, how visiting Chestnut Tree House has encouraged them to go on to support us, be it as a volunteer, doing fundraising or simply helping spread the word about what we do.
