The recreation ground was thronging with people for the Battel Bonfire Boyes Summer Fayre, which this year had been expanded to include a barn dance, an evening of live music and, of course, the fabulous carnival.

It is hoped that the parade will return next year, even bigger and brighter than before.

The Bonfire Boyes should be congratulated for putting so much hard work into organising this weekend.

The community spirit is certainly alive and well and it’s living in Battle.

Speaking of which, the Battle Scarecrow Festival is back in town.

As if you hadn’t noticed Daley Thompson lurking in the flowerbed and the straw-stuffed pole vaulter on the Abbey Green.
