The Christmas and New year waste and recycling collections, as I read them, are the normal day of Monday for Christmas week and a revised day of December 31 for New Year’s week. The Monday January 6 collection will take place on January 7 and things will return to normal from January 13.

This year Christmas cards can be recycled in the green box or blue recycling bag but cards containing glitter or with foil or plastic finishes, cannot be recycled.

Subscriptions for the Parish News are due in January 2014. The price is now £15 per annum - a small increase due to rising costs. Bodiam parish subscribers should return the form with payment to their distributor. The form is printed in the back of December’s Parish News.

The next Battle Area Community Transport flexible bus service for Bodiam to Ashford takes place on January 17.

The service for Christmas Day at St Giles is Holy Communion at 11.15am. The Bodiam vicar Gordon will take the service.
