Chestnut Tree House: Thank you to our wonderful volunteers

Volunteers are so important to us, we really would struggle to operate without them. Last year volunteers provided over 100,000 hours of support across the whole charity (which, as well as Chestnut Tree, includes our adult hospice in Worthing, St Barnabas), doing the equivalent of over a million pounds worth of work to help support our care, fundraising and retail functions.

Every year we hold a thank you evening for the hundreds of volunteers who help us, and tonight, for the first time, we are holding an event in Eastbourne especially for our East Sussex helpers.

Volunteers in East Sussex take on a number of roles for us. They might spend a few hours each week in one of our shops sorting stock, creating wonderful displays or serving customers. Or they might help our fundraising team to raise awareness and vital funds to ensure we can continue offering care to children with life-shortening conditions in the county.

Over the past year volunteers have done everything from cheering on the walkers in our Night to Remember midnight walk and dressing up as pirates for the Eastbourne Carnival to delivering collecting tins to businesses and providing admin support in our local office.

We are looking forward to a lovely evening of celebration and thanks; we simply would not be able to do all the exciting things we do if it were not for all our lovely volunteers.

We are always recruiting new volunteers, please see our website for more information if you are interested in joining the team www.chestnut-tree-house.org.uk
