Cinema will be a real asset to the town

WE are all for a new cinema in Rye and can’t wait to welcome it.

The town already has a well deserved reputation as a destination for the arts and a new cinema will strengthen that further.

Cinema, like vinyl records, is making a real come back with audience figures growing and small independent cinemas like the Electric Palace at Hastings regularly selling out in advance for performances.

The Kino has a proven track-record and we are confident their successful Hawkhurst model can be repeated in Rye.

This will be a real revival - the first time Rye has had a cinema for more than 40 years.

The cinema, which will also offer food and refreshments, will attract people into the town and generate a potential extra spend to benefit other businesses.

Love it or hate it you will be hard pressed to ignore the annual influx of hundreds of motorcycles in Rye on bank holiday Monday.

We believe that as long as the two-wheeled visitors observe the rules of the road and parking regulations and behave in a courteous way they are to be welcomed.

Not only do they provide a talking point and eye-catching spectacle but help to boost Rye’s economy over the bank holiday weekend.
