Don't be shy - £100 meal treat up for grabs for top senior person

WE never thought we would say this - but come on Bexhill, don't be shy.

The Observer has teamed up with Ashridge Court Care Centre to find Bexhill’s top senior person for 2011, and so far we have had very few nominations.

There are a lot of fantastic older people in the town, many of whom give up their time to do anything from volunteering with community groups to small acts of kindness within their family group, circle of friends or neighbourhood.

Anyone and everyone can make a nomination, whether spouse/partner, child, grandchild, friend or fellow community volunteer - provided the nominee is aged 65 or over.

And senior people who feel they may deserve the award can even nominate themselves.

There are two fantastic prizes up for grabs - a £100 treat at a restaurant of the winner’s choice, plus a runner-up award of £50 worth of Marks and Spencer vouchers.

With huge government cuts on the way and a shrinking in most people’s income - particularly pensioners - winning one of these great prizes would provide a much-needed lift to the spirits.
