Harbour could lead way to regeneration

THE way has been paved for a new wildlife area to be created at Rye Harbour and there are future plans to expand thriving Rye Wharf to recreate hundreds of potential jobs.

Once again the man behind this scheme is wharf owner Rod Chapman who has also established the successful Atlas Business park in Rye Harbour Road.

Rod’s hands-on dynamic approach and boundless energy has resulted in projects moving forward and seen the harbour area buzzing with activity. It shows what can be achieved if people have the will and determination.

But there is more to Rye Harbour than industry. Pop along to the summer fete in the grounds of the village hall on Saturday and enjoy many attractions including duck racing - an appropriate activity given the close knit community there have always been known as Harbour Ducks.

IT is questionable as to whether Icklesham Parish Council should have kicked out a Winchelsea councillor for missing a few meetings despite sending apologies. Was this the letter of the law rather than the spirit of it? Perhaps more questionable that a council based in Icklesham has control over folk in Winchelsea and Rye Harbour.
