After all the excitement of the Commonwealth Games, I’ve been practising running like Mo Farah and Usain Bolt.

My friend, Zoe the zebra and I have also caught the loom band bug. They’re so much fun – I’ve made bracelets, keyrings and even necklaces in bright rainbow colours.

I made an orange and black bracelet for Terry the tiger to match his stripey coat and a yellow and brown one for Georgia the giraffe that matches her big spots.

Zoe made me a band that was glittery and smelt like cherries. For homework over the summer, we were asked to make a sculpture for art.

Holly the horse and I are making one of our favourite world landmarks, the Eiffel Tower, out of loom bands. It’s very complicated, but a lot of fun.

Holly looked up loom bands on the internet and found out they were invented by a man called Cheong Choon Ng in 2010. Loom bands are now encouraging people to do more art and fashion designers are being inspired to make fun new clothes using them. When we show everybody our art project, we’re going to read our class some fun facts.

Did you know that more than three million loom bands have been sold since December 2013? There are 55 different types, with 51 cool ways to make them.

I think Zoe might be making a loom band sculpture too. I wonder what she’ll make a sculpture of!

I can’t wait to go back to school and see what everyone else made!
