Just a minute

From cowering rescue kitten to an integral part of the family in 18 years - our old black-and-white is still sorely missed, a year after her humiliating illness and death.

So, if this is how we humans relate to a 'lesser creature' of a different species, how much more is God pleased by His strangely-beautiful creatures called 'humans', delighting in His relationship with them?

Further, if we made allowances for all the anti-social behaviour, the scratching and clawing of furniture and friends, the puddles and worse, the sick when she was too greedy, the off-days when she couldn't communicate or co-operate: how much more is God's forbearance and before-you-were-born understanding of us, his wayward and self-willed creatures?

The bottom line, as ever, is money. If we relatively hard-pushed people are willing to sacrifice some pay and pension on a moggie (visits to vet, cattery plus food add up alarmingly over 18 years), how much more does the Lord make costly sacrifice for us, beyond our imagining yet glimpsed in the vivid brutality of Calvary.
