Just a minute

LAST week I said that I would tell you about the Miracle Cross, which I first saw on a visit to the Big Apple a couple of years ago.

LAST week I said that I would tell you about the Miracle Cross, which I first saw on a visit to the Big Apple a couple of years ago.

After the bombing of the World Trade Centre hundreds of workmen were helping to clear the site and had the appalling task of pulling dead bodies out of the tangle of steel and concrete.

On September 13, 2001 one workman found a metal cross standing almost upright amid the rubble.

To find such a powerful symbol in the middle of all the devastation made a profound impact on those who were working there, and before long people were coming to see it, and to pray.

The cross isn't pretty but it continues to make a statement about the presence of God in even the darkest places of the world.

I bought a badge of this cross, which I wear on my jacket.

If you see me in town, why not stop me and have a look?
