"WHAT'S the point?" Some say Christian denominations still seem as divided as ever.

Surely only a few "ecumenical enthusiasts" pretend they're making progress towards unity? It is no pretence.

Church leaders, not just enthusiasts, are seeking further ways of working and praying together. Seniors will know terrific progress has been made in the last 50 years.

Churches Together in Bexhill comprises 20 churches representing seven traditions, a united service is hosted by different churches whenever there is a 5th Sunday in the month; an annual "Walk of Witness" each Good Friday; and shared hymn singing on Sundays in June and July at the Colonnade, among other things.

Theologians will take time discussing some apparently irreconcilable doctrinal points. In the meantime we can continue to learn from each other and to enjoy being one in the Spirit by meeting, working, singing and praying with each other.
