Night to Remember

We have just launched the 2016 Night to Remember Midnight Walk and we are really looking forward to another fantastic event in Eastbourne. This year's ladies only walk will take place on Saturday 14 May 2016, with four and ten mile routes taking in the beautiful sights of Sovereign Harbour and the seafront at night.

This will be the seventh year we have run this event and last year we had 682 ladies from across the county walking to raise vital funds for Chestnut Tree. The atmosphere on the night was buzzing and the dedication of the walkers was amazing. We are hoping that even more ladies will join us this year and help us make every day count for every child being cared for by Chestnut Tree in East Sussex.

The event really does make a difference to us. We receive less than 7% of our funding from central government so we rely on fundraising events such as Night to Remember in order to continue offering care to families in East Sussex. Over the past six years 3,800 ladies have pledged a collective £454,000 in sponsorship from the event, and hopes are high that this year will boost that total.

As part of our preparation for this year’s Night to Remember we have been chatting to Claire Brewer, whose team ‘Yodas Angels’ walked in memory of Claire’s daughter, Courtney, who passed away after a 12 week battle with leukaemia. “It was a fantastic night with loads going on before we set off, the warm up was great. It was quite strange as Courtney’s favourite colour was purple and the tops we received to walk in were purple too which made it even better, we are all looking forward to doing it again this year.”

If you would like to join them in raising vital funds for your local children’s hospice then registration for the event closes on Monday 2 May 2016. There is also a discounted early-bird entry fee of £15 for those registering before Friday 11 March. For more information visit nighttoremember.org.uk/cth.
