Observer Comment: Youngsters deliver smart lesson in participation

BEXHILL'S young people delivered a sharp lesson in participation at the Town Forum on Tuesday evening.

Bexhill High pupils turned up in uniform after a long day at school to talk about their new building and new way of learning.

They exuded energy and enthusiasm which should have been infectious - if only there were more people there to listen.

Bexhill Rowing Club young rowers similarly put their oars to one side and arrived at the De La Warr Pavilion ready to meet, greet and talk about the impressive work being done to achieve excellence in their sport.

They were hoping to attract members, supporters and sponsors to the club to help raise the thousands necessary for their new boathouse.

The presentation by brothers Mark and Matt Mitchell was well received by members of the Forum but again deserved a far wider audience.

Chairman Paul Plim raised the question of attendance and suggested there must be more people in Bexhill with ideas and views to contribute.

They would be more than welcome at the next meeting of Bexhill Town Forum on Tuesday, June 14, from 6.30pm.
