One final push for little Mary

In the wake of the tragic death of little Mary Shipstone the Rye Observer is urging readers to dig deep and help her grieving family hit the £5,000 memorial target they are so close to reaching.

Nearly 200 people have donated to the online appeal so far and others have put money in a parish council appeal to create a village memorial for the little girl.

As well as a lasting memorial to Mary, the family want to help fund the very worthwhile Music Well charity, which offer music therapy to disadvantaged children.

One last big effort is what is needed - let’s make it happen in the next few days.

There was an incredible response to our Facebook appeal for views on whether Rye is still in need of a new supermarket.

Some excellent and heart-felt points were made with many saying they find Rye too expensive for a big weekly shop and regularly shop outside the town.

Others made the point that Rye’s small independent shops should not be forgotten and questioned the need for a new supermarket.

Whatever the future holds you can be sure we will bring you the latest news and involve you in the debate.
