Police win a major victory in the war against drug dealers

THE sheer scale of the cannabis farming operation uncovered in Barnhorn Road this week is mind-boggling.

Who would have thought that an innocent-looking detached house would be so comprehensively fitted out with hydroponics and steel doors, in what is clearly a nerve-centre for local drugs suppliers?

Illegal drugs continue to be one of the scourges of modern society, even in a relatively quiet town like Bexhill where drug use appears to be mainly the soft to middle part of the scale.

However the message from police is clear - illegal drug-taking such as using cannabis ruins people's lives and the best way to curb this is to pull the rug out from under the feet of the dealers.

Although arrests have yet to be made, Bexhill Police this week have won a major victory in tackling drug-related crime.

As Inspector James Scott says, the job satisfaction felt by the officers who uncovered this slick, professional and thoroughly unlawful operation must have been immense.

Farewell to the putting green

ALAS, the putting green and crazy golf along the seafront is no more.

Despite council statistics suggesting the facility is little-used, it does hold a special place in the hearts of many residents and visitors.

Rother hasn't entirely ruled out replacing the crazy golf once the Next Wave scheme is finished.

If you want to see what has become an integral part of Bexhill's seafront heritage restored to another nearby location, let the council (and us) know.

Enough support could well bring a positive result.
