If you haven’t got a branded email address already, it may be time to do so. It is easy to get one set up that uses the same domain name as your website. Then whenever you hand out a business card with your email address on, or whenever you email someone, your domain name is front and centre in people’s eyes and minds. It also looks professional and more serious than [email protected]!

Your email signature is an opportunity to give people helpful information. Include a link to your website together with any other contact information that is appropriate. If you have a special offer, you might consider adding a line about it here too. Do not abuse your email signature though. Too many links and images will make it appear like spam to many mail servers, which will stop your messages getting through.

If you create content on social media that does not link to anything on your website, then do not expect your website to get any visits. Instead use social media to spread your message, not as the medium for your message. Write content on your own site that you can then share via social media. If you have a blog, make good use of it writing useful pieces that people will want to read and share themselves.

Continuing with social media for a moment, remember to engage and be engaging. Read and respond to other people’s (and businesses’) posts. Not only will it improve your brand image if you are helpful, but people will generally be more willing to read and share your content when you do post something of your own.

Lastly, if you have an amazing offer, or a competition, or a bit of industry news or anything else you want people to see, remember to tell them about it. You might be at a networking meeting, down the pub (a rarity these days) or at an event. Take the opportunity to tell them about whatever it is and direct them to your website for more information. Anyone that is interested will visit your site. It is all about giving people a reason to visit.

These are just some of the things you can do to help promote your business website, but there are many more. What will you do new in 2016?
