Remember the days when shopping bags and your purse were the only things you had to take with you? | Kelly Brown

I can’t be the only person who has done the ‘walk of shame’ and rocked up to the shop to realise I have forgotten a fairly new essential - my face mask!

Cue a 180 degree turn and dash back to the car or, worse, home!

It was hard enough always remembering my shopping bags as well as my handbag. So adding this extra item has clearly been brain overload for me, but surely I’m not alone!

It is just one of a number of things as part of this ‘new normal’ that we are continually getting used to (or not as it turns out) and seems to be forever changing.

Looking at the latest rules for how many people you are actually allowed to see is a bizarre pastime that none of us had ever thought was necessary.

Yet it feels like you could play bingo with the varying numbers allowed or on offer depending on what day of the week it is or where you live.

But one of the biggest changes for me has been getting used to my new ‘work’ clothes as an office wardrobe remains a thing of the past as a result of continual home working.

While my ‘smart’ clothes have remained hanging up and pretty unworn since March, my jeans, t shirts and casual clothes - which only used to get an airing at the weekend - are now needed seven days a week.

In fact I’ve had to invest in more because it turned out I didn’t have enough without resorting to an obscene amount of continual washing.

Still, at least I know the option is there for me to have a conference call in my PJs if I get really desperate.
