Top marks to Rye College and it’s young people on GCSE results which saw them gain the best Maths grades ever.

Rye College is now competing with the very best - remarkable when turning the clock back ten years it was deemed as a failing school.

Now, under the inspirational leadership of Ann Cockerham and her team, the College has gone from strength to strength and has a clear and exciting new direction for the future with the launch of a new Studio School next year.

But let’s not forget that beyond impressive academic results the College plays a vibrant part in the Rye Community with students exhibiting work at local galleries, entertaining with music and helping to make the Rye Olympic Torch celebration a huge success.

Rye hosts an International Jazz Festival this weekend with some of the biggest names in the business performing in the town.

The idea had it’s detractors with some sceptical that organiser Ian Bowden could pull it off - well it looks as though he has proved them wrong.

Now we have something worth celebrating and going to this bank holiday weekend.

Let’s take Paul McCartney’s advice and get behind the Festival in the hope that it will become an annual event which will have enormous economic and cultural benefits for Rye.
