ST BARNABAS: Fantastic volunteers keep hospice grounds in order

I hope you all had a lovely Easter long weekend, and that you ate lots of delicious chocolate!

We’ve had a busy Easter period here at St Barnabas.

In the Day Hospice we had a day of painting Zentangle ceramic eggs.

Zentangle is a new art method, an easy to learn way of creating lovely images by using repetitive patterns. It is a fun and relaxing activity, intended to make the act of drawing pleasurable, meditative and something that everyone can do.

Everyone who took part in the Day Hospice found it to be utterly absorbing and very enjoyable!

We held our annual Easter service in our chapel on Easter Sunday, which was very well attended by patients and visitors alike.

We’ve been blessed with some beautiful sunshine over the last week or so, and our garden volunteers have been busy preparing everything for the summer.

We have a fantastic team of garden volunteers, who work outside in all weathers, keeping the grounds looking their best.

Today I can see them working hard clearing the driveway, making sure we have a beautiful entrance to the hospice.

They have also been working on our lavender maze. That comes in to bloom throughout the late spring and summer, and provides a beautiful assault on the senses!

The scent of lavender pervades the hospice long in to late summer.

Having these beautiful gardens all year round is only possible thanks to our volunteers. We can’t thank them enough for all they do.
